The Art Nouveau movement (late 1800s to early 1900s) was known for its flowing lines and stylised flowers which you can see in the beautiful decoration. The repouss technique is a traditional metalworking process in which the design is carefully worked from the reverse side to produce a richly textured, three dimensional pattern.
