This is an exceptional piece of early 20th century Royal Navy history, an engraved presentation or launching mallet associated directly with the launch of the Duncan class battleship HMS Albemarle at Chatham Dockyard on March 5th, 1901. The mallet has a finely carved wooden handle fitted with an elaborate sterling silver head, one side engraved with a lighthouse and the other commemorating the ship, her launch, Lady
