This is a lovely brass mounted Private Purchase New Land Pattern Flintlock Dragoon pistol, featuring a captured ramrod, so it would not easily be lost while on horseback. This pattern was introduced in 1808, replacing the P 1796, which did not have the captured ramrod. Later changes seen on this pistol include the "ring neck" cock, which was found to be much less prone to break than the earlier "swan neck" style. We
