In place of the fourth (top) iron hoop there is a broad brass stepped hoop that fans out like in a large lip

Armour continued to be worn and used in Japan until the end of the samurai era (Meiji period) in the 1860s

It retains 98% of its original black paint and finish

The rifle is serial numbered U 8192 on the barrel and bayonet stand
