In gilt cast fine zinc, obverse illustrating the left facing bust of Rudolf Diesel and inscribed "RUDOLF DIESEL" below the bust, reverse inscribed "EHRE DEM VERDIENST" within an open ended wreath of laurel leaves, surrounded by the inscription "DEUTSCHER ERFINDERVERBAND NRNBERG" and engraver marked "L.
