Original Spanish American War Captured Spanish National War Ensign U.S. Edged Weapons The booklet goes on toOriginal Item: Only One Available. This is a small silk flag captured by U. S. troops during the Spanish American War. The flag is the National War Ensign 1785 1931 and National State Flag 1843 1931. In 1785, King Charles III replaced the existing war ensign (a white field with the Spanish coat of arms centered on it), with a new, distinct ensign which could not easily be mistaken with those of other countries. In 1843, the design also became the
