Lafon's Santenots is typically a fairly muscular wine but in 2016 it is more a wine of refinement though I stress that there is excellent concentration and punch on the impeccably well-balanced finish that flashes just a hint of austerity

No indication of its age on the rim or on the nose in spite of the critics. Decanted to facilitate opening. Found no solids after pouring out a few glasses. Really nice rich red fruit flavors and spice. Needs to open a good bit more to fully assess the complexity. After two small glasses the complexity showed up.
