Among its other appellations are Laundry Tree, Ghost Tree, Handkerchief Tree, depending upon the person or the locale. Its namesake is Abbe Armand David, a Frenchman in southwestern China in the last part of the 19th c., who first collected this spectacular tree. The fall color can be
