The army's lack of trucks (and petroleum to run them) was a severe handicap to infantry movement especially during and after the Normandy invasion when Allied air power devastated the French rail network north of the Loire
It is still a dreadful relic which perhaps does date from 1750 but the barrel has been shortened

This is a totally standard British Naval Flintlock long Sea Service pistol dating from about 1764 1769. The lock is marked with a Crown over "G. R." with "TOWER" across the lock's tail. It is complete with all brass mounts and ramrod is present, as is the belt hook.
