The example has an original 1776 dated lock by the maker Henry Nock as well as an original English proofed barrel
The Extractor retains the majority of its blackened finish and is intact and the Extractor Spring is still very strong

This is a very nice all original example of a Named German Model 40 Steel helmet, as issued to the Wehrmacht Heer (army). It shows lovely period service wear in the form of chipped paint and oxidation on the crown of the helmet. It most likely saw service for a long period in a damp environment.
