Original British Napoleonic Naval Leather Water Bucket for Sponging Cannon Barrels After Firing - circa 1800 Antique Long Guns Markings(scabbard): 1127 / n andOriginal Items: One of a Kind. Here we have a most attractive Napoleonic Georgian era British naval leather water bucket for "sponging" out the bores of cannons after firing. This was necessary to make sure that any burning remnants embers were extinguished prior to reloading the cannon for the next round. It features lovely leather with copper rivet construction, measuring 11" inches tall and 9" across the brim. Beautifully painted with a G R on
