This Burnside Cavalry serial # 17498 in . 54 caliber is offered in near excellent condition. This example, known as the fifth model, is dated 1864 and retains most of the original blue with a crisp wood stock bearing two very clear inspector's cartouches and comes complete with saddle ring. The barrel is marked CAST STEEL 1864, the top of the frame is marked BURNSIDE PATENT MODEL OF 1864 and the lockplate is marked
