This is a very nice condition example of a U. S. Civil War issue Model 1840 Musician's sword, manufactured by Christopher Roby of West Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The sword measures 38" overall, and has an all brass hilt, with the original cross guard replaced with a somewhat "Medieval" style brass guard, which has a 6 pointed star in the middle.
