A Cartridge Box Badge of the Foot Guards, c.1780 consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac with a black obverse andA large badge in brass, likely theatre made, the obverse presenting the cipher of King George, with large surmounting crown, the reverse with three lugs for cartridge box adhesion, measures 58. 2mm (w) x 92. 4mm (h), evidence of oxidation related to the age, a rare decoration in very fine condition. Footnote: The cartridge box badge adorned the cartridge box, which held fixed cartridges of paper for faster loading.
