Ayers (ASN 32873334) was assigned to the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team (517th PRCT) and jumped into Southern France during Operation Dragoon on August 15th, 1944. He is mentioned in the Company "I" report for that day, a photocopy of which is included in this set. In February, 1945 he was transferred to the 13th Airborne Division.
