Schaumburg-Lippe, Principality. A Military Merit Medal United Republic of gilt aluminum Italian Republic coat-of-arms(Militr Verdienstmedaille). Instituted on 30 May 1850. Type I. A circular silver medal, the obverse with the crowned cipher of Prince Georg Wilhelm within an ornate laurel wreath, the reverse centre inscribed FR MILITAIR VERDIENST (FOR MILITARY MERIT) above crossed cavalry sabres within an ornate laurel wreath, measuring 30. 32 mm in diameter, on loop for suspension from period original ribbon with enamelled red cross, and in very fine condition.
