This particular sword just came out of a very old Collection in England. The pattern 1796 Light Cavalry Saber features a blade that is wider at the tip than it is at the guard. This became known as a hatchet point and was the subject of a complaint from Napoleon Bonaparte as being too inhumane due to the grievous wounds it was capable of inflicting. It should be pointed out that the Prussians, under General BLUCHER adopted the
