These were extremely scarce as the Snider Rifle only saw Front Line Service for 5-7 years

Clearly these weapons were not manufactured by Sharps and clearly some of the parts were made in Nepal

Some show Rifle Serial numbers on the frog stud

Please see the fabulous book collection "Small Arms of the East India Company 1600 1856" by David Harding, Volume 2 page 28. This is exactly the same lock adopted by the British Board of Ordnance for the Third Model Brown Bess
