On 1 July 1881 the Childers Reforms came into effect and the regiment amalgamated with the 100th (Prince of Wales's Royal Canadian) Regiment of Foot to form the Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians)

leaving only a small portion still attached to the wooden stabilizer

Despite this being the Model of 1822 and being marked very faintly with Mle 1822 on the barrel tang, this particular pistol was not produced as a flintlock and then converted.
