the cold temperatures forced many soldiers to tear out the helmet's liner so the ushanka
all components on this helmet are in matching service-worn condition
The pommel is a solid decorated "Birds Head" without a bayonet slot

This is an excellent example of a genuine British Mark II steel helmet, which is dated 1939 on the chinstrap bales. The underside of the helmet is marked F&L 284 1 19 indicating manufacture by Fisher & Ludlow of Birmingham. The liner has no markings, which we havent seen before.
